A visit to Vallecitos, when it reopens, naturally pairs with Los Penitentes, its near neighbor a mere six miles distant. One envisions a short, dramatic drive through the Argentine mountains, connecting two experiences. Portillo, across the border in Chile, is also within reach for those keen on a longer road.
