Arapahoe Basin

Ah, Arapahoe Basin. A sturdy high-alpine haunt, where the air thins and the slopes stretch long into early summer. It caters to those who value a good fall line and a lengthy season over elaborate village fanfare. Think of it as a purist’s peak, demanding respect and rewarding commitment.

This gem pairs well with its nearer neighbors. A jaunt of but a few miles brings one to Loveland Basin, a companion for a double dose of elevation. Or, for a change of pace, Copper Mountain awaits an easy drive, offering a different character to one’s mountain mosaic.

For the modern pilgrim, Arapahoe Basin finds itself upon the Ikon Pass. Do note, its loftiness means it can cling to winter’s grasp when others have long surrendered, making it a fine late-season target, but also prone to early-season bluster.
