Its vertical, a respectable 2,103 feet, offers enough descent to satisfy intermediate skiers and those seeking a relaxed day on the snow. One finds less of the extreme, more of the charming, making it a suitable choice for a family outing or for those whose legs are not quite ready for relentless steeps.

For the road-tripper, Rochebrune fits neatly into a French Alps tour. Drive but 33 miles and you'll find Domaine Brévent-Flégère, offering a contrasting, perhaps more rugged, terrain. Or, head towards Mont d'Arbois, some 52 miles distant, for another agreeable stop. The drives between these resorts are scenic, as one expects from this corner of Europe, allowing for pleasant contemplation betwixt ski days.

Access to Rochebrune is granted via the Ikon Pass and the Mountain Collective Pass, a convenience for those holding such credentials. One should, however, consider the nature of travel in these parts; distances, while not vast, demand attention to the mountain roadways, especially in winter. Plan accordingly to avoid unnecessary haste.
