Its 280 skiable acres offer a more intimate experience, suitable for honing one's craft without the grandiose scale of larger resorts. It is a place for the unpretentious skier.

For the touring wizard, Pajarito is well-suited as a stop between larger endeavors. One might consider combining it with a foray to Sandia Peak, a journey of some 47 miles, each offering a distinct flavor of New Mexico skiing. Or, for a longer jaunt, Pajarito could precede a visit to Taos Ski Valley, a drive southward of roughly 71 miles, making for a day of variety on the road.

Pajarito, it must be noted, does not appear on any of the common multi-mountain passes. Therefore, one should make arrangements directly. It is operated by Mountain Capital Partners. The average snowfall is 125 inches.
