It is a place for honing basic skills and enjoying the simple pleasure of gliding, without the rigors of steeper peaks. Families with young apprentices may find its scale quite agreeable.

For the touring wizard, Itasca pairs handily with others in the Minnesota region. A jaunt of some 59 miles will bring you to Giants Ridge, or journey eastward to Spirit Mountain or Mont du Lac, both roughly 70 miles distant. Such drives offer pleasant contemplation betwixt turns.

Itasca stands as an independent kingdom, beholden to no grand pass. This means one pays for its pleasures directly, a simple exchange devoid of complex agreements. Be mindful, however, that its humble stature ensures it will not challenge the robust powder hound.
