Mont Blanc Tramway, for all its French flair, presents a character rather distinct from your typical ski resort. This is for the sightseer, the intrepid hiker, and perhaps a very particular sort of ski mountaineer, as marked ski pistes are not its focus.

For the touring enthusiast or the view-chaser, this tramway makes for a dramatic interlude on a tour of the Haute-Savoie. Pair it with the more conventional pistes of Le Tour, a reasonable drive to the east, or with Saint Gervais, a modest journey south, for a contrast in alpine enjoyment.
