The 70 skiable acres offer enough variety for a weekend, though deep powder days are rare with 35 inches of average annual snowfall. It serves as a good introduction for newer skiers or those simply looking for a pleasant day on the slopes.

For the intrepid road-tripper, Massanutten pairs nicely with Bryce, merely 28 miles distant. The journey between these Virginian hills is a pleasant meander through the Shenandoah Valley. One might also stretch the legs another hour or so west to include West Virginia's Timberline or Canaan Valley, though the drive becomes more substantial.

Massanutten claims its place on the Indy Pass. Be mindful, however, that while convenient for pass holders, this mountain is often a destination unto itself for many, due to its varied amenities beyond mere skiing. Planning ahead to secure preferred lodging might save some consternation.
